Jair Cortázar Zambrano

Coach Cortázar is a registered coach with the United States Fencing Coaches Association (USFCA), United States Fencing Association Certified Referee, and a compatitive registered athlete with the United States Fencign Association. He, has been training in the United States since 2002. He is founder of the UVU Fencing club and also served as a volunteer coach for the BYU Fencing Club Rebel Swords under the presidency of Emily Cluff and Owen Merkling. Jair is also the founder of the former Utah Valley Fencing Academy Inc; nowadays known as Musketeers Fencing Alliance.

 

Coach Cortázar has trained athletes of all ages to compete locally, regionally and nationally. Coach Cortázar himself if an active fencing athlete who represents the Utah South Idaho Division and his native country Colombia in fencing competitions such as North American Cups and divisional events.

 

Before comming to the United States to complete his educational goals, coach Cortázar was a member of the Colombian Army for 3 years. After leaving the Colombian Army he served as a missionary for two years for The Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter-Day Saints in the Colombia Bogota South Mission.

 

After the completion of his mission, Coach Cortázar attended Utah Valley University, UVU, and obtained a bachellors degree in International Business with emphasis in finance and economics. Coach Cortázar also studied computer science, web development, computer graphics and currently is pursuing an associates degree in exercise science at UVU while he is getting ready to take the LSAT.

Coach Cortázar has knowlege of several languages including Spanish, English, French, Portuguese, Latin, and Italian.
